NFPA 306: Standard for the Control of Gas Hazards on Vessels, 2001 Edition


Reduce hazards when transporting dangerous substances on marine vessels!

Newly revised for 2001, NFPA 306 specifies safety requirements for areas on marine vessels that carry or burn as fuel any of the following: flammable or combustible liquids, flammable compressed gases, or chemicals in bulk.

  

You'll work smarter and safer with important changes including:

  • New standard safety designation "Atmosphere Safe for Workers"
  • Change in the requirement for Marine Chemists to test and inspect spaces adjacent to cold work tanks
  • New requirement for the competent person to retest spaces certified by a Marine Chemist at least every 24 hours
  • New definition for a "facility"
  • Added a definition of "combustible material"
  • Added a definition of "flammable liquid" and "combustible liquid" to conform with NFPA 30
